2027 - I will not be anybody’s running mate! MARTHA KARUA Featured
Narc Kenya chairperson Martha Karua has officially announced her candidacy for the 2027 presidential elections.
Speaking in Kirinyaga County on January 10, Karua emphasized that she will not serve as a deputy to any candidate, expressing her determination to challenge President William Ruto's regime.
"I will not be a deputy to anybody again. At the right time, I will ask for your votes for the presidency," she declared. Karua previously ran for president in 2013, finishing sixth, and contested for the Kirinyaga Governor seat in 2017, losing to Anne Waiguru. In 2022, she was the running mate for Raila Odinga under the Azimio coalition but lost to Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua.
In preparation for the upcoming elections, the Narc Kenya Party is working on a rebranding strategy. According to a Gazette Notice published on December 27, 2024, the party will be renamed the People’s Liberation Party (PLP), with a new color theme shifting from luminous red and white lilac to white and purple.
