Lugulu Girls School 2024 KCSE Results Withheld Featured
Lugula Girls’ and 4 other famous schools whose 2024 KCSE results have been withheld
On January 9, 2024, Education Cabinet Secretary Migos Ogamba announced the results of the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams, highlighting serious concerns that have unsettled students, parents, and education stakeholders. While 962,512 candidates sat for the exams, the results of 2,899 students were withheld due to suspected malpractice, and 840 candidates had their results nullified for confirmed cheating. Investigations into these withheld results are expected to conclude within 30 days.
Prominent institutions like Lugulu Girls’ High School in Bungoma County, which achieved a mean grade of 9.328 in 2023, now face scrutiny. Principal Dinah Cheruiyot has reassured parents that the matter is being handled through official KNEC appeal channels. Similarly, St. Peter’s Abwao Secondary School in Migori County, the top performer in Nyanza, also had its results withheld due to irregularities, along with Mama Malia Academy in Kitui County, where 92 candidates wait for their results.
In Bomet County, Kipsingei Mixed Secondary School reported all subjects marked with a grade ‘W’, indicating irregularities, while Katilu Boys High School in Turkana, noted for its strong performance in 2023, is now under investigation.
The situation has generated considerable anxiety among students and parents, particularly given the reputation of these schools. Education stakeholders are urging for a transparent investigation process to maintain the integrity of the examination system and provide clarity to affected students.
